You are biding on a BEAUTIFUL, THOUGHT TO BE RARE TO FIND....CAME OUT OF A WESTERN WHISKEY FLASK & BOTTLE COLLECTION Antique whiskey related EARLY MADE IN JAPAN "LUSTREWARE" STYLE WESTERN SOUVENIR WHISKEY FLASK....STANDS ABOUT 5 1/2" TALL souvenir flask which says " SOUVENIR OF SAN FRANCISCO (pictorial of people playing croquet)" issued for the historic town of SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
THIS CAME OUT OF A LIFETIME COLLECTION OF ANTIQUE WESTERN WHISKEY FLASKS AND BOTTLES....IT WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THIS MADE IN JAPAN "LUSTREWARE" CHINA MATERIAL......THE ORIGINAL OWNER THOUGHT RARE TO FIND....AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE BEFORE.
DOING A LITTLE RESEACH, JAPANESE "LUSTREWARE CHINA" STARTED IN THE 1900'S AND WAS AT PEAK POPULARITY AROUND THE 1920S......I HAVE HAD OTHER LUSTREWARE CHINA (TEA POTS, CUPS, ETC)...BUT HAVE NEVER SEEN A SOUVENIR WHISKEY FLASK......ORIGINAL OWNER THOUGHT THIS WAS LIKELY FROM THE 1920'S BASED ON THE CLOTHING STYLES IN THE PICTORIAL....
ALSO NOTE THE MADE IN JAPAN "MAKER MARKS" ON THE BASE (see gallery)....THIS LIKELY SOLD IN SAN FRANCISCO AT SOUVENIR STAND, DRUG STORE, HOTEL LOBBY, TRAIN DEPOT, ETC
THIS SEEMS IN VERY NICE CONDITION....NO DAMAGE OR CHIPS, THREADS ARE NICE, BUT A FEW SPOTS OF WEAR TO THE ORANGE LUSTREWARE.....COMES WITH THE CAP WHICH HAS A COUPLE DINGS, BUT AT LEAST IT HAS THE CAP :) IT DISPLAYS REALLY WELL WITH OTHER BOTTLES AND REALLY STANDS OUT BECAUSE OF ITS UNIQUE APPEARANCE
I have inspected this lustreware souvenir whiskey flask, seems really nice, but a couple wear spots, threads are nice, displays well, has old cap which has a couple small dings (see gallery)...Can find no cracks, chips, or damage to flask....displays very well.
Gallery pictures should show you all you need to know, took pictures from many angles.
Nice antique bottle, AND BELIEVE TOUGHER TO FIND, CAME OUT OF A WESTERN WHISKEY FLASK COLLECTION.....CIRCA 1920S MADE IN JAPAN "LUSTREWARE" STYLE WHISKEY FLASK , ABOUT 5 1/2" TALL WHICH SAYS "SOUVENIR OF SAN FRANCISCO", likely bought by a tourist many years ago in the historic city of SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
All my bottles are carefully packed in bubble wrap and oversized rigid box to make sure they get to you as you see them :)
Thanks so much for looking....collect and invest in history!!!!! Tangible assets are always the best ones.
