Vintage lot of 2 American Red Cross letterpress printing blocks used for blood donation advertising and promotional materials.

To the best of my knowledge, these are original vintage letterpress printing blocks featuring American Red Cross blood donation themes. The text on the blocks is reversed, as would be expected for printing use. Based on my interpretation of the mirrored text and images, one block appears to feature a blood-drop character with a “Blood Is Always Needed” message, while the other appears to promote blood donation availability and encourage donors to contact the Red Cross.

The blocks consist of metal printing plates mounted on wood bases. Approximate dimensions are shown in the photographs.

These came from the personal collection of my father, who worked for the American Red Cross for many years. The exact age, origin, and specific use of these printing blocks are unknown, but they appear to be authentic vintage pieces from the pre-digital printing era.
