THE SECRET HISTORY OF THE COURT AND CABINET OF ST CLOUD

In a series of letters from a resident in Paris to a nobleman in London,

written during the months of August, September and October 1805.

Author not stated.

Published in 1806 by John Watts, Philadelphia

Bound in leather hard covers with red label to spine, gilt lettering / decoration. 8 3/4 x 5 1/2”. 350 pages. Covers with some surface and edge wear, corner bumps. Hinges are not cracked or stressed. Leather feels smooth. Two owner names inside. Pages neatly in place, toning somewhat and with scattered light age & use stains as shown.

This title, first published in 1805 in England has been attributed to Stewarton, a pseudonym, and to Lewis Goldsmith. There seems to be no strong identification or consensus as to authorship in my brief search. The importance of the book seems to lie in the keen observations and interpretations of the French political scene and of Napoleon I.

An attractive, nicely kept, interesting book.

Thanks. I will pack securely and mail promptly. Glad to combine shipping for multiple book purchases.
