Please note that this table lighter (1936-1948) is Ronson's first version of the design, which has a curved (rounded) radius on the top of the snuffer cap next to the flint wheel. These earlier models were manufactured in Newark, New Jersey, and typically featured a red felt pad around the base rim.
The second version (1949-1954) features a flat-top snuffer cap. These later models were produced in the USA, Canada, and England, and usually featured a green felt pad on the bottom.
If you research a little bit, you will find most of the Ronson table lighters listed on Ebay are second version design with a green felt pad on the bottom.
Therefore, this one is just a little bit special.
I purchased this lighter at an estate sale on January 24, 2008, and wrapped it with that day's LA Times. This piece of newspaper will go with the lighter as a wrapping paper for a proof.
