This auction is for a silver RAF AIR COMMODORE CRICHTON I D tag, James Scotland silver 40 shillings.

An ID tag made from a James II Scotland silver 40 shillings coin, circa 1687. the reverse engraved with the details H L CRICHTON AIR COMMODORE RAF PRESBYTERIAN. Mounted as part of a bracelet.

The coin alone is very scarce and highly desirable, but with the unusual bonus of the details of a very high ranking RAF officer.

Air Commodore Crichton was born 1890 and died 1952. he had a long career first in the Army from 1916 as a junior offer, then the Royal Flying Corps and laster in the RAF.
