In the 1960s, studio recordings, including those by The Beatles, were simple 2-track or 4-track recordings, and recording techniques such as overdubbing were still in their developmental stages. Records and radio were predominantly mono. Even the Beatles mainly used mono until the mid-1960s and didn't participate in stereo mixing. It's a well-known anecdote that the session masters for singles like "Love Me Do" and "She Loves You" were destroyed, making it impossible to create stereo mixes later. However, with the development of AI technology, it is now possible to create true stereo by digitally analyzing mono tracks and separating overdubbed audio into multi-tracks for remixing. In recent years, "demixing" has gained attention with the use of such technology in Peter Jackson's film "Get Back" and the reissue of the Red and Blue Albums, leading to the emergence of numerous sound source restorations that were previously impossible.
