This is an authentic 19th-century Japanese lacquer "Kodansu" cabinet, a stunning example of Meiji-era craftsmanship. It features hand-painted gold motifs and delicate inlays on a black lacquer ground. A true collector's piece with historical character.

1. Missing Hardware: The small ring/handle on the top lid (red compartment) is missing. Also, one metal pull handle is missing from one of the internal drawers.
2. Structural Signs of Age: There is a prominent vertical split/crack on the right-hand side panel and gaps at the rear joints. These are natural results of the wood seasoning and shrinking over a century.
3. Surface & Finish: The lacquer shows extensive wear, including scratches, edge chipping, and areas of "bubbling" or lifting, which is typical for antique lacquerware of this period.
4. Metalwork: All hinges and brackets show heavy oxidation and a deep natural patina.
