A579. This auction is for a unique made and older style of a frameless Art Deco mirror from England. This mirror reminded me of an email got over 20 years ago from a lady from Dallas, Texas. She was one of better- and well-known home decorators in the Dallas area. She was wanting to know if I could get my hands on some "distressed" mirrors, the more distressed, the better. At first. I thought she was just fooling around with me. When I asked her why she wanted distressed mirror her answer was simple and direct. She was working on redecorating a 1890's home in the Fair Park area of Dallas and said she need several styles of mirrors, and most 1890's mirrors would show some signs of distress. She did not want any 1920 or 1930 style or type mirrors in an 1890 home. On period correct restorations you want period correct furnishing. I wish I would have had this mirror then. This mirror fits that bill. All though I have seen a lot more distressed mirror than this one, they did not grab my attention like this one did. It is about 27" X 16" overall. It has a scalloped edge cut across the top with a small, beveled cut edge along the sides and bottom. It has some "accent lines" cut or etched into the glass on the sides down low near each corner with a "jewel" or glass dot that are placed "under the glass" not on top of the glass like most are. It has some surface blemishes (scratches) and some dark spots and some silver loss on the edges and on the bottom The clarity is pretty good for this mirror age & travels although there is some fog on the back. Overall, it is about 27" X 16". It is a good mirror for someone wanting a period correct purchase for a 125-year-old home. It would make a killer over-the-mantle mirror. Special Note about our Mirrors. We try our best of offer only older and antique mirror. We do not sell imported mirrors from China or Indonesia that are made to look old. You can get them at any import store like The World Market and other stores that will gladly over-charge you for one of them. Most of the mirrors we sell will have some small dark spots or blemishes to the silvering, small scratches on the surfaces and or could have some light streaks showing when you view at certain angles, because they are from 75 to 125 years old, but at the end of the day, they are wonderful older mirrors with many years of good service remaining in them and just need a new place to "hang around".
