A beautifully hand-painted tile from northern India, likely Kashmir, featuring a long-tailed songbird perched amidst stylized florals. Richly glazed in cobalt, turquoise, yellow, plum, and green with strong black linework, the design evokes traditional Persianate motifs interpreted through Indian folk art. Measuring approx. 8” x 4.75”, this tile was likely created in the mid-to-late 20th century for decorative use. The reverse is unmarked, with an unglazed terracotta body and visible signs of age and hand production. A striking standalone piece of vernacular ceramic art.
