To Buyers in the USA: As of April 2026, Japan Post has finally resumed commercial Air Mail service to the USA, and so we now can once again ship there. Please understand that the new DDP requirements are now quite cumbersome and slow, and so we may not be able to send parcels to the USA quite as quickly as before, but we will do so as quickly as the system allows. We will do our utmost to send everything within our stated shipping schedule, but there might still be delays initially. To buyers for whom we have been holding parcels (some for a rather long time), we are also working through them, and expect to have everything out by early May. We will let each buyer know once their parcels have shipped. Many thanks for your patience and understanding, —JD & KTD
This Japanese brass Buddhist prayer bell appears to be 50 or so years old, and comes with a brass mallet and a lacquered-wood case. A marking on the inside of the bell is the kanji, "Ei", which is probably short for "Eiryu", a maker of prayer bells. This kind of bell is held in the hand, with the open portion facing upward, and is usually used by monks.
The bell has general wear, dustiness, and tarnishing, but there is no significant structural damage. We don't know what note it plays. The cushion attached to the bell has much wear, with several holes, as shown. The box has general wear and dustiness.Size:
Not including the cushion and loop handle, the bell is about W3" (75mm) X H1 9/16" (39mm).
This item is set to ship via Air Mail, and should arrive within 7-14 days after being posted.
The postage charge shown for this listing applies to
shipping anywhere in the world outside of Asia.
General Note about Shipping:
Unless otherwise indicated, we ship all of our items via Standard Air Mail. Registered mail with tracking is also available for an additional US$5.60 above the standard Air Mail shipping cost stated in the description.
We are glad to combine multiple items for shipping, and of course will discount some of the postage charges for each item after the first one. Please note that the shipping discount is not large for heavy items, but for small, light things we will discount the shipping charges by 40-100 percent, depending on how heavy it is and how it needs to be packed.
We ship at least once and very often twice a week, and so most of the time items will be in the mail within no more than 10 business days after we have received payment. We also always send a brief note informing buyers when their items have shipped.
