This is a nice 1915-D Buffalo Nickel key in About Good* condition that has gone through a chemical holo-restorative process. The result is the nicely detailed coin presented in these photographs. On the obverse the date is full. On the reverse the mint mark is distinct and full horn details can be seen. There is full rim restoration and complete lettering on both sides. * The ANACS automatically assigns a chemically restored coin with an AG (3) designation. Historically this was appropriate because a harsh acid was applied to the date mound and the result was an ugly looking coin whose date could be determined. In recent years, Buffalo Nickel lovers like myself, have labored to restore the entire coin. This process brings out its beautifying features and its numismatic details. The Buffalo Nickel in my view is one of the most beautiful coins ever produced. The process is gentle and time consuming, but there is great artistic satisfaction in seeing these old obscure and dateless relics come back to life.
