I have purchased a rock & mineral collection at an estate sale and this is the first item. Please let me know if you collect as items can be posted together to save p&p.

This is the first item:

Genuine cut and polished oil well core sample from the San Andres Formation, dated to approx. 230 million years (Permian).

This piece was produced in the mid-20th century by M & M Enterprises, Midland, Texas as part of their “Gifts from the Oil Patch” series. The core was drilled at 4850 ft in Gaines County, Texas and mounted with a brass emblem of the Wyoming Geological Association (est. 1943).

A fantastic geological display item showing dolomitic limestone with porosity typical of hydrocarbon-bearing formations.

Ideal for:

• Geologists

• Fossil & mineral collectors

• Petroleum industry history collectors

• Desk décor with real geological provenance

Condition: Very good vintage condition with natural variations in the polished core surface.
