Gold Watch Presented To Ronnie Simpson Celtic FC Lisbon Lions Glenties Celtic SC

This auction is for a rare piece of sporting memorabilia.

It is a 9ct gold watch presented to Ronnie Simpson in 1969 by the Glenties Celtic Supporters Club.

Simpson spent the 1950s as Newcastle goalkeeper, however in 1964 he signed for Celtic where he remained until 1970.

He is most famously remembered as one of the 'Lisbon Lions' as part of the Celtic team who won the European Cup in 1967

The watch in itself is a fairly standard Swiss gold watch with automatic movement, however the history of the watch and the inscription on the back makes itunique.

The watch has an ETA 2477 automatic movement. It is currently not running however it should not be difficult for a competent watch repairer to get it going
