An original Civil War letter dated 1864. It is written to Captain D. C. Bradish who was in the 1st Michigan Infantry.  In one area it looks like it says,...........Truly do I think you have realized the dark side of a Soldiers life and drank of its billeness............. for hard indeed must be the heart that does not love the brave soldiers who have fought n suffered for this blessed land of Liberty since last I wrote you..................but many many of my friends have joined the Union Army and not a few have yielded up their lives on the sacred alter of our loved country. Can you blame me for loving the very name - Soldier?..................

I currently have other items listed that came with this letter.
