Stonewash treatment involves tumbling the blade in a special coarse ceramic media.
These particles thoroughly polish all surfaces of the blade, creating either a matte or glossy finish depending on the media's coarseness.
This finish is widely used on tactical knives because it creates a tough, wear-resistant surface that minimizes glare. For other folding knives, such as those with concave-ground blades, a more traditional satin finish is often preferred.
This elegant surface effect contrasts sharply with the rugged appearance of stonewash.
Both methods offer excellent wear resistance and superior corrosion resistance compared to pearl finishes or acid etching.
