Overview:
Umayyad bronze fals struck at Dimashq during the post-reform period. Both obverse and reverse feature inscriptions arranged in three lines within the field and surrounded by marginal legends, characteristic of the fully epigraphic reform coinage established after the monetary changes of the late 7th century.
Damascus was one of the principal mints of the Umayyad administration and produced a wide range of bronze issues for regional circulation. The balanced inscriptional layout and broad 25 mm flan give this example strong visual presence typical of mature Umayyad bronze production.
Authenticity Check:
Natural dark patina consistent with early Islamic bronze. Proper post-reform epigraphic style and correct hand-struck fabric. No evidence of casting or modern tooling.
