Overview:
Early Umayyad bronze fals struck at Hims (Emesa) during the 90s AH. The obverse bears bismillah la ilaha illa Allah wahdahu arranged in lines, with a star device incorporated into the inscriptional layout. The reverse reads muhammad rasul Allah followed by the mint name Hims in clear Kufic script.

Hims was an important Syrian mint during the reform period following the monetary changes initiated under `Abd al-Malik. These early epigraphic bronzes reflect the transition from figural to fully Islamic coinage while retaining distinctive regional stylistic elements such as the star symbol.

Authenticity Check:
Natural patina consistent with early 8th century Syrian bronze. Correct Umayyad flan fabric and epigraphic style. No signs of casting or modern tooling.
