This piece has a number of versions or varieties produced by a few different sculptors and producers and in the aggregate they are referred to by the names 'The Dawn Dancer' or 'The Mirage Bohemia Dancer'. They depict a decidedly streamlined and ethereal Art Deco figure of a woman dancer draped in diaphanous fabrics and dipping low on her bent right leg. Her left leg extends out and back and her arms stretch out above in an elegant movement. Being of lucite, light travels into the piece and gives it a pleasing 'glow'. She is set on a black Art Deco base. Pieces such as these were created in the 1980's and are reminiscent of frosted glass figures created in the 1920's by Rene Lalique. Our piece has a little flaw ( see the last photo ), at the crook of her right elbow. It is either a production flaw or a hairline break. It may also be a repair in which case it was done well. Its location on the piece is somewhat hidden in a front view but is evident from the back. We have taken this into consideration in our pricing. It's still a very elegant and beautiful 80's Art Deco piece.
