Description

The Missouri Pacific Railroad (MP) was a major US line that served 10 mid-western states (Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas). Organized in 1851, it was merged into the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) in 1997. The UP had controlling interest in the MP for over 15 years prior to the merger, but court actions and issues regarding bond payments delayed the actual merger until 1997.
