Vintage Hungarian Matyo Kalocsa Embroidered Flowers Lace Folk Costume Cap

This vintage Hungarian matyo kalocsa embroidered flowers lace folk costume cap dates from the 1930s. It is made of an off white cotton muslin fabric with multicolored raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work creating a thick dense embroidered pansy flowers outlined with bullion knot stitch and French knot stitches done in the matyo embroidery style. There is a white linen drawn thread eyelet cutwork embroidered pale pink tulip flowers lace ruffle flounce trim edging done in the kalocsa embroidery style. This beautiful traditional Hungarian folk costume cap bonnet has an embroidered rectangle front panel with mint green silk satin fabric edging, a rounded back cap with gathering, a lace scalloped ruffle flounce front edging with a cord tie strap and is meant to folded into a bonnet hat style (which I had pinned together to show on the head form). It measures 24 inches long from the top to bottom, 10 inches wide across the front when laid out flat and has a 4 inch wide lace ruffle trim along the front. It is in good condition, with only some faint discoloration staining on the inside lining and some loose stitching on the corner attaching the lace trim edging (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and one of a kind piece of Hungarian folk costume wearable art!
