Why Add This to Your Collection?
Chlorastrolite is often compared to opal because of its unique polishing requirements and the way light interacts with its fibrous structure. This specimen is perfect for a custom jewelry setting (pendant or ring) or as a centerpiece for a Great Lakes mineral collection.
🧐🤓
Geological Profile
Mineralogy: A rare, manganese-rich variety of Pumpellyite.
💎
Crystal Habit: These specimens exhibit the classic stellate (star-like) or fibrous radiated habit, which creates the highly sought-after "turtleback" chatoyancy when polished.
✨️
Formation: Formed as secondary mineral infillings (amygdules) within the gas vesicles of 1.1 billion-year-old Keweenawan basalt.
🧐
Condition: Please consult photos, and you're use your own discretion. As natural geological samples, they may exhibit irregular surfaces, healed fractures, or "healed" micro-fissures characteristic of the host basalt matrix. Please note not all nodules within the matrix are Chlorastrolite, many times there are other minerals, such as calcite, prehnite, Thompsonite, datolite and copper.
⛏️💚⛏️ This gemstone was expertly selected by Michigan Gems of Curran MI. As third-generation artist creating within the state, for the last decade specializing bringing out the natural "inner fire" of Greenstone.
