The Fantasy Fan
December 1934

The Fantasy Fan was the best of the 1930s fanzines and has become a legendary among collectors for its high quality as well as its scarcity.

The Sorcery of Aphlar is credited only to Duane Rimel, but it was co-written/revised by H.P. Lovecraft.

Robert Bloch's story, The Laughter of the Ghoul, is his second published story, after Lilies a few months earlier.

This issue contains:
  • Supernatural Horror in Literature (essay, part 15) by H.P. Lovecraft
  • The Favorite Weird Stories of Clark Ashton Smith (essay) by H. Koenig
  • The Sorcery of Aphlar (story) by H. P. Lovecraft and Duane W. Rimel (1st publication)
  • The Passing of Aphrodite (poem) by Clark Ashton Smith
  • The Laughter of a Ghoul (story) by Robert Bloch (his 2nd published story ever)
