Up for sale is a gem of a
piece, my Ochs und Junior Moon Phase. It comes as watch only. I bought
it from a brick-and-mortar store a couple years back and just had it
serviced by OuJ in February 2026. The watch is in very-good-to-excellent
condition. There are only a couple, barely noticeable scuffs on the
titanium case (that I tried to photograph) and one longer but faint mark
on the caseback. The strap still has plenty of life in it, too.
I probably don't need to tell you much about Ludwig Oechslin or Ochs und
Junior if you have gotten this far. His minimalist aesthetic and
ingenious complications are the stuff of legend. This watch, for
example, will correctly render the moon phase for 3,478.27 years before
being off by a day! The movement, a highly modified ETA 2824-2, has an
epicyclic gear train driven by a central finger bonded directly to the
hour pipe turns the lunar disk beneath the dial counter-clockwise. The
central finger engages with a wheel bearing 12 teeth, whose pinion with
14 teeth meshes with a wheel bearing 18 teeth, whose pinion with 14
teeth meshes with the fixed recessed ring gear with its 109 teeth
machined into the underside of the dial. (This is according to the
company's website.)
The watch is 42mm, but it wears a little smaller because of the short
lugs. The lack of a bezel means the dial has a lot of presence, however.
And what a dial! The brushed silver has texture and depth, and it
positively sparkles in sunlight. The recessed moon phase arc, also
brushed, plays with the light differently, so a two-tone effect is
produced. The sun (at 12) is gold leaf, and the moon is white gold leaf,
giving the celestial bodies additional texture. The titanium case is
light on the wrist while the strap is thick and supple. You will find
yourself staring in marvel at this watch a lot throughout the course of
the day.
Hard to believe I might be letting this one go, but I find myself
wearing another Ochs (an annual calendar) more. My loss is your gain!
I would strongly prefer a US sale, but I am willing to discuss international shipping in certain circumstances. I have made numerous sales here, on Chrono24, Reddit's WatchExchange, and other watch forums, so buy with confidence!
