Huge natural black opal cabochon originating from Ethiopia. This weighs 26.35 CTS and has been cut into an oval shape. The measurements are approximately 24.1 x 18.8 mm.

This stone is one of the biggest Opals in our collection, and has a very impressive play of color. The dominant color throughout the piece is bright flashes of red, which is widely considered the most desirable color for an Opal. There are other colors of flashy opalescence found throughout the piece as well, such as orange, yellow, pink, green, and purple that travel and "dance" throughout the surface. As with all opals, the colors are most intense when viewed under a light source, either artificial or sunlight.

This is a natural gemstone and has smoke in treated to enhance color. Don't be fooled by lesser imitations. This is not a doublet or filled product, this is solid earth mined stone. There is no discernable damage or chips and is in excellent condition.
