Huge natural Irridescent black opal cabochon gemstone originating from Ethiopia. This weighs 20.10 CTS and has been cut into an oval shape. The measurements are approximately 22.7 x 14.8 x 11.5 mm.
The stone is not only large but displays a strong opalescent effect, with a color shift displaying mostly red and orange flashes throughout the piece. It is worth noting that red is traditionally considered the most desirable shade for an opal. Other colors can be seen traveling and "dancing" throughout its surface such as green, gold, and blue, but red and orange are the dominant hues found in the piece. As with all Opals, the colors are most intense when viewed under a light source, either artificial or sunlight.
This is a natural gemstone and has smoke in treated to enhance color. Don't be fooled by lesser imitations. This is not a doublet or filled product, this is solid earth mined stone. The gem in in remarkable condition without any notable chips or scratches.
