The date 585 AH corresponds to the period of active military campaigns during Salah al-Din’s consolidation of power following the capture of Jerusalem. Dated Damascus issues of this period are widely collected for their historical importance and association with one of the most significant rulers of the medieval Near East.
At 25 mm and 6.31 grams, this is a large and substantial example with strong fabric.
