Overview:
Arab-Byzantine bronze fals of the Two Standing Emperors type attributed to the Baalbek mint. The obverse depicts two standing imperial figures, each holding a cruciform scepter, with a cross between their heads. The reverse features a large M denomination with cross above and inverted crescent below, accompanied by Greek field letters consistent with Baalbek issues.
Although the Arabic mint name in the exergue is no longer visible on this specimen, the fabric, engraving style, and field arrangement correspond to documented Baalbek examples of this type.
This issue belongs to the transitional Arab-Byzantine series of the late 7th century, reflecting the continuation of Byzantine iconography under early Islamic authority.
Authenticity Check:
Natural dark green patina consistent with early bronze. Proper 7th-century fabric and hand-struck characteristics. No signs of casting or modern tooling.
