Description:
This is a scarce Tabariya bronze fals featuring the distinctive “tree” device placed to the left of the central field — a less common variety within the early post-reform Umayyad bronze coinage. The tree motif is characteristic of certain provincial mints in the Bilad al-Sham region and reflects continuity of late antique symbolic elements adapted into early Islamic design.
Tabariya (ancient Tiberias) was an important administrative and military center in Jund al-Urdunn. Bronze fulus from this mint are collected for their stylistic diversity and regional calligraphic variations. The left-positioned tree variety is encountered less frequently than standard arrangements, making this a desirable example for specialists.
Authenticity:
Strong earthen patina, correct early Islamic epigraphy, fabric, and strike characteristics consistent with Umayyad provincial bronze issues. No modern tooling or alteration observed. Guaranteed authentic.
Condition:
Clear central inscriptions and visible tree motif. Even patina with typical circulation wear for the type. A solid and collectible example of a rare Tabariya variety.
