VICTORIAN BRIDESMAID TRAINED GOWN, CIRCA 1903

This is an attractive Victorian bridesmaid gown with ivory colored tucks of chiffon accented with horizontal rows of pink velvet ribbon, two piece in construction, with low neck bertha collar, elbow length leg of mutton sleeves of chiffon and boned at waist. Dating from 1903. A gown that a mid to upper class dress that a woman would wear. Unlabeled.

The bodice is decorated with bands of pink velvet ribbons, machine lace applique inserts on front, back and on sleeves and as well as continuing down the skirt. The bodice has extensive hook and eyes back closure fastening into a tight fitting bodice. There are hooks at waistline on bodice that hook to the skirt to support weight.
The bodice is lined with shattering white silk. 

The trained skirt closes by hooks and loops at the back with fullness for a nice fall. Skirt also has horizontal rows of tucks  on the chiffon and full length vertical rows of lace inserts. Velvet ribbon streamers fall from waist to hem with5 chiffon flowers at end. Attractive taffeta petticoat  with chiffon ruffles.

CONDITION

The gown is in fair/good condition. The white lining fabric in bodice and skirt have a many small shattered splits scattered about.
Slight very light underarm discoloration with small tears. Some yellowing on front center lace.  Few hook and eyes on bodice as well as skirt are loose or missing. Some water marks on hemline on velvet. Scattered holes or tears in chiffon around lace on skirt as seen in photos. Few broken brides in lace.
