Description

The Hestonville, Mantua & Fairmount Railroad Company (HM&F) began in 1859 as a horsecar line, transporting passengers from West Philadelphia to downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It later converted to electric power.

For sale is a rare ticket stub from the HM&F, dated March 30, 1893. It provided the rider with a free transfer at Arch Street. The ticket bears the name of the HM&F President, Johns Hopkins, who later became the benefactor of a major hospital complex in Baltimore.

The stub measures appx 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches and is printed on medium-weight cardstock. It has no writing, markings, rips or tears, but there are two punch holes from its use.
