One of our favorite customers who has our QMX/Talentcell 3000 wedge asked us to design a carrier for the INIU Power Bank he saw on the "Ham Radio Duo" YouTube channel. I found the video (Oct. 24, 2024 "CW Ham Radio Go Kit and New Battery Review!") and was intrigued enough to buy the power bank and cable and try it out...and it works great with my QCX mini!
This wedge and carrier provides an angled base for the QMX or QCX-mini that integrates a INIU 22.5W 10000mAh Power Bank and 12V USB-C trigger cable (not included, check the "Ham Radio Duo" YouTube video or message us for more details) into a single secure package to take to the field or use in the shack. Optional "tinker wedges" let you take advantage of the space inside the wedge base, sliding in and locking from both sides to add capabilities to your system. See more detail below...
Designed and made in-house right here in North Carolina, this carrier lets you integrate both the radio and the INIU Power Bank into one streamlined package ready for operating in the field or in the shack. The radio sits at a 33 degree angle when deployed, making visibility and operating easy! The Power Bank slides into the holder and locks in on the back to secure the radio in place, so it's easy to pack and unpack as a ready-to-go unit for the field. With the USB-C cable, we figured nobody would want to cut it down so there's clips designed to secure the cable to the top of the carrier, while still providing visibility to the battery meter. There's also a cutout on the side to access the power button to check remaining battery life without needing to remove the power bank from the carrier.
The "tinker wedges" are side covers that let you squeeze a little bit of stuff inside the wedge base, so you can drill holes in the faces for things like audio jacks, power jacks, or whatever else that will fit and put the electronic bits and wires inside. The tinker wedges lock into place once everything is installed. While I custom-made my sides shown in the picture, the blank side panels are easy to drill for whatever you can fit in there, or leave them as they are to make the sides of the wedge look neater.
