The Epson 48 series ink cartridge is a supply for the Stylus Photo R200 and R300 printers and the RX600 all in one, desktop photo machines from Epson's extended ink set era that were built for borderless prints, disc label printing, and film scanning on the RX600. The cartridge set is individual rather than combined, so a single spent supply is replaced while the rest of the set stays in service. Epson's Micro Piezo printhead remains in the printer and fires ink by flexing a crystal instead of boiling it, so these cartridges hold ink alone and stay small. Each one drops into its slot in the carriage under the raised lid and locks down when the cartridge cover is closed, after which the printer charges the ink lines. The dye based formulation on this platform is tuned for glossy and semi gloss photo stock, where it lays down smooth gradients without visible banding.
- Key Features:
- Individual Cartridge Set: Each supply occupies its own slot in the carriage, so one spent cartridge is replaced while the rest of the set stays in service unchanged.
- Micro Piezo Ink Delivery: The printhead stays in the printer and flexes a crystal to fire ink instead of boiling it, so the cartridge carries only its own ink supply.
- Photo Stock Tuning: The dye based formulation on this platform suits glossy and semi gloss media, laying down smooth gradients without visible banding across an image.
- Under Lid Installation: Cartridges drop into the carriage with the lid raised and lock when the cover is closed, after which the printer charges its ink lines again.
- Storage And Handling: Spares store upright in their packaging, away from heat and sunlight, and a cold cartridge should reach room temperature before it is fitted.
