Original US LP released in 1979 on Muse Records. Cat: MR5188.
Ricky Ford's first Muse album (and his second record as a leader) teams him with the obscure trumpeter Oliver Beener, the masterful pianist Jaki Byard, bassist David Friesen and drummer Dannie Richmond. Byard and Ford contributed three numbers apiece, which are joined by "If You Could See Me Now"; Byard's "Diane's Melody" serves as a memorable tenor-piano duet. The music, advanced hard bop, has dated quite well and makes one wonder why Ricky Ford never quite became a pollwinner in the jazz world.
