This antique Chinese burgundy red grapes squirrels rabbit fur lined winter robe dates from the 1920s. It is made of a dark red burgundy color silk damask weave brocade fabric with a woven grape vine leaf, grape berry fruit, squirrels design roundels medallions. Squirrels and grapes both known for their ability to multiply were a common theme of Chinese wishes for generations of children, symbolizing abundance and fertility. This beautiful burgundy women's winter robe short jacket has a soft white rabbit fur lining, purple silk brocade ribbon trim edging the brown fur lined band collar neckline, wide sleeves cuffs and burgundy silk knotted frog toggle front side closures. The robe measures 24 inches long, with a 34 inch chest, 16 inch long sleeves and a 13 inch neck. It is in good condition, gently worn. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese wearable art!
