TM9 1825B ~ Electrical Equipment (Auto-Lite)

This is a quality reprint of US Army Technical Manual, TM9 1825B.  Originally published in November of 1952.  It provides detailed information on testing and rebuilding Autolite Generators, Regulators, Distributors, Starters, & Horns used by the military in 1952.

From the Manual:

1. Scope

a. These instructions are published for the information and guidance of personnel responsible for field and depot maintenance of this materiel. These instructions contain information on maintenance which is beyond the scope of the tools, equipment, or supplies normally available to using organizations. This manual does not contain information for the using organization, since such information is available in the pertinent operator's technical manuals.

b. This manual contains a description of and procedures for disassembly, inspection, repair, rebuild, and assembly of Auto-Lite electrical equipment used on ordnance vehicles. The appendix contains a list of current references, including supply catalogs, technical manuals, and other available publications applicable to the materiel.

c. Electrical equipment such as starters and generators is subject to rapid deterioration when exposed to certain conditions such as operation of vehicles in very high or very low ambient temperatures for long periods, rapid changes in temperature, high humidity, salt air, and immersion in salt water. When difficulties are encountered due to corrosion, rust, or fungus growths, the equipment may be treated for protection against rust, corrosion, and fungus growth as described in TB ORD 242. Instructions for waterproofing certain types of generators are covered in TB ORD 329.

The pictures are very usable and not washed out or too dark like many of the manuals I have seen that from copy machines.  I use a laser printer with at least 24 pound paper.  Copy paper is generally 20 pound and you can feel the difference.  It is bound with GBC plastic combs so that it will lay flat.  If you would like I can, rather than bind with the plastic comb, three hole punch it for your binder.

If you are collecting truck manuals or looking for a prop to display at your next show, this is not the manual you want.  If you want some usable information on a great MV, that will lay flat on your bench when you are working on your pride and joy or some period information on how it was done forty years ago while you curl up in front of the fire this winter, this is the one you need.
