This 1750s Georgian Era 1/2” Small Cut Faceted Steel Point 2 Piece Button with Wire Shank is wonderfully intricate in its design. It is unusual to find a 2 piece button this early. In a tiny space 22 individual steel points were faceted and attached to a metal plate with the center steel nail left long to attach to the back plate and bent over on the back to keep the decorative steels in place. A loop style shank was then soldered to the back. Incredible design and workmanship. This Style button was to make the button reflective and sparkle like diamonds. It would have been worn by someone with affluence in high society after the Baroque era heading into the early modern era around 1750s in Europe or possibly crafted here in America. Condition is very good for its age of approximately 275 years old. It does have minor age appropriate wear to the edges and a small amount of pitting on the back but nothing that takes away from an overall good look. See photos.
