Note on the disposal of used batteries:
The following notice is aimed at those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and no longer resell them in the form delivered to them (end users):
1. Free return of used batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return old batteries so that they can be disposed of correctly. You can hand in used batteries at a municipal collection point or at your local store. As a battery distributor, we are also obliged to take back old batteries, although our take-back obligation is limited to used batteries of the type that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our range. You can therefore send used batteries of the type mentioned above back to our address in the imprint with sufficient postage.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed out garbage can. This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries that contain more than 0.0005 percent by mass of mercury, more than 0.002 percent by mass of cadmium or more than 0.004 percent by mass of lead, the chemical name of the pollutant used is located under the garbage can symbol - "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" stands for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.
Important note about: Lithium batteries and battery packs
Lithium batteries and battery packs may only be returned to us in a discharged state or placed in used battery collection containers at retailers and public waste disposal agencies. If the batteries are not completely discharged, precautions must be taken to prevent short circuits.
Definition: "Lithium batteries" are single-discharge lithium primary batteries; “Battery packs” also include lead, nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride and lithium batteries. The “complete discharge” state occurs when the usual end of use (e.g. switching off the device when the final discharge voltage is reached or functional impairments begin due to insufficient battery capacity) has been reached. To prevent a short circuit, the poles must be insulated with adhesive strips.
Battery deposit information
According to § 10 BattG. Every seller is obliged to pay a deposit of €7.50 for starter batteries. VAT to be charged if no old battery is handed in when a new battery is purchased. The deposit price is included in our offers. You can return your old battery free of charge to us, or alternatively to the recycling centers or Dispose of at recycling centers in your city or municipality.
We offer 3 options for refunding the deposit value:
1. When you return your used battery to our pick-up store
2. You provide sufficient franking for the used battery and send it to us, taking into account the currently valid dangerous goods regulations, to the address stated in the legal notice.
3. You dispose of your old battery at a recycling center, a scrap dealer, a workshop or a starter battery distributor, have the disposal confirmed in writing - also on our invoice - and send us this proof of disposal.
