Cut and Sew                                                                     This charming, original early, commercially lithograph printed, straw stuffed, cloth doll, with wonderful sensitive features, circa 1892, measures, 16" tall and was patented and manufactured by Arnold Print Works on July 5, 1892 as the printed label on the base shows. This delightful character doll wears her pink, printed gown and holds a big pale blue bonnet in one hand and the other hand is placed to her mouth. She has lovely, printed, (photographic like) clear features with pink lips, broad nose, curly black hair and sweet expressive dark brown eyes. She is in remarkably good condition for her age of over one-hundred years with no damages or fading and no odors as she is from a smoke free home. This is one of a line of "cut & sew" cloth dolls sold in general stores at the turn of the century for the homemaker to stitch together and stuff at home. See page 8, "Playthings by the Yard"-Whitton for full description. (This is not the more recent reproduction renamed, "Blossom" or Topsy by Toy Works but the ORIGINAL version.)
See last photos for more of these antique dolls all listed separately and not included with this item. He will make an excellent companion for some of your other vintage dolls and teddy bears.  (loc + 1 & LW cloth F2)
Please note: nearly all of our items are antique or vintage (usually with some signs of wear due to usage and previous storage).
