🧩 About the T2 / TPM Firmware Error

This model contains Apple’s T2 security chip, which manages encryption, Secure Boot, and Touch ID.
If the firmware becomes corrupted (often after a reset or OS reinstall), you’ll see:

To fix it, you need to revive the T2 firmware using Apple Configurator 2 on another Mac:

  1. Download Apple Configurator 2 from the Mac App Store on a separate, working Mac.

  2. Connect this A2179 to that Mac using a USB-C to USB-C cable.

  3. Put the A2179 into DFU Mode (special firmware recovery mode).

  4. In Configurator, select the device and click “Revive” or “Restore.”

This process reinstalls the bridgeOS (T2 firmware) and can bring the system back to full boot capability.
