The author (1840-1922) was an English poet best known for his elegant erotic verse and his expression of anti-imperialism in relation to India and Ireland, where he was imprisoned for two months in Galway and Kilmainham jails after a scuffle with the police at a political meeting. Foreword by Lady Gregory. This is the first edition of the single-volume version of these diaries.
