Brand History:

Corelle is an American dinnerware line introduced by Corning Glass Works in 1970 in Corning, New York. It was developed after Corning scientists created Vitrelle, a revolutionary tempered glass laminate made by fusing three layers of glass into one. This innovation combined lightness with remarkable strength, allowing plates and bowls to resist chipping, cracking, and sudden temperature changes.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Corelle became a fixture in millions of homes for its clean design and everyday practicality. Each piece was made in the USA, designed to complement Pyrex and CorningWare products. In 1998, the kitchenware division became World Kitchen, later renamed Corelle Brands, continuing the same production process and maintaining compatibility with earlier designs.

Today, vintage Corelle by Corning pieces—especially those marked “Made in USA”—are prized for their historical link to Corning’s pioneering glass technology and the unmatched durability that made Corelle one of the most trusted names in American tableware.
