This Artifact was found in an amateur Archeological dig in Ojuelos de Jalisco, Mexico in 2023. This is one of the more complex smaller pieces that I have come in contact with. It has 9 stone inlays, form the eyes and tongue, to the ever present round knobs at the temples or sides of the head that are found on most of these pieces. There seem to be an ancient repair to the piece, which is common. They were probably handed down through successive generations and needed to be repaired every so often. Their ancient repairs are usually seamless, unlike modern repair jobs. A good indication that it is an ancient repair is the red tinted adhesive they used. They did use clear adhesives too, but the red is a dead giveaway. The dates we are getting on artifacts found in the areas with the same Iconography are from 3,000 ybp (years before present) all the way to 40,000 ybp. The reason we can buy and sell these incredible artifacts at all is because the US and Mexican Governments and UNESCO, in their infinite wisdom (cough), have decided that anything with Alien Iconography, Egyptian Iconography, Mesopotamian Iconography, Indus River Valley Iconography, or Early Christian Iconography are to be regarded as Modern Art and therefore not subject to their jurisdictions. Until the Government and Scientific Communities get their acts together, it is up to Collectors and Amateur Archeologists to safeguard these Amazing Artifacts for future Generations. It is clear to me that the Governments and Acidemics of the world are going to sit on their hands until this issue bites them in the... It's up to us to make sure these Artifacts are safeguarded for future generations. The Shipping includes Insurance on the piece.
