Victorian I. Magnin & Co. White Silk Black Jet Beaded Evening Opera Cloak Cape

This antique Victorian era I. Magnin & Co. white silk black jet beaded evening opera cloak cape dates from 1900. It is made of a white silk satin sheen weave fabric, with decorative black jet beaded applique and black velvet trim accents. This opulent opera cloak elegant evening cape has a long floor length style with a puffed padded gathered rounded stand up collar, jet beaded fringe end trim hanging down the front, a large jet beaded triangle trim on the back, black velvet ribbon hook closure at the neck and is fully lined in an off white ivory color soft flannel fabric with an "I. Magnin & Co. San Francisco Importers" label sewn inside. The cape measures 49 inches long, with a 42 inch chest, 17 inch back and 14 inch neck. It is in good condition, with some loose missing beads, the original silk lining covering the flannel fabric inside is missing, some loose stitching at the neck ribbon hook closure and inside label (see close-ups). This is truly a rare extraordinary one of a kind custom made piece of antique Victoriana wearable art!
