• Bottle embossed:  "CLEAN FONT / PAT. OCT. 25, '92", as in "1892".  
• Condition:  Bottle is in NICE CLEAN condition.  It has wear on the backside bottom from where it rested for many instances while a baby nursed from it.  The manufactured hole is jagged around the rim, THIS IS HOW IT WAS MANUFACTURED, it was broken away to put a brass collar over it which rusted away many years ago.  Other than this the bottle has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. and overall it is in nearly perfect condition.    Please see pictures for overall idea of bottle's condition.
  
• Age: An early hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. 1800's, it has the 1892 date on it.

A very UNIQUE looking antique nursing bottle.  This originally took a rubber nipple that was attached to a rubber hose that had a base like the base of a balloon so it fitted tightly over the neck and mouth of the bottle.  Then a baby could lie on its back with the bottle lying on its chest or side, with the nipple extending from the bottle to the baby, via the rubber hose.  Not long after this bottle design came into existence there started to be hygienic problems with it. Even though the bottle could be cleaned of aged milk, the tube/nipple feeding apparatus could not, and became a breeding ground for bacteria that led to tragic consequences and this type of bottle was discontinued.  As a result there's not a whole lot of them around as they were in service for a short time.  This example, 'CLEAN FONT' with the hole in the top center was evidently an engineering attempt to make the bottles safer.   With the large opening in the middle of the bottle it could be cleaned up much more thoroughly than the predecessor's examples.   But this one too must of failed as it is so very rare that maybe only one batch of them were ever even blown.   A rare example of a "CLEAN FONT" embossed nurser, one we've not ever seen before, check it out!
