vintage print from Victor Collin de Plancy's (1853-1922) photographic diary. The author was probably a correspondent for "L'Étoile belge" and "Le Matin" at the time. He was probably sent to China to cover the Boxer Rebellion. Some photographs have the name of their author written in ink under the image, notably Paul Splingaerd, the Belgian Mandarin.
