The sauce was originally developed at County Stadium,
the original home of the Milwaukee
Brewers,
back in the early 1970's. It got its start when the Brewer's food
vendor ran out
of ketchup and mustard. So in a hurry, Rick A. who was a vendor at the time came up
with a "little bit of this and a little bit of
that" recipe
which is now known as the Secret Stadium Sauce.
Secret Stadium Sauce has gotten rave reviews from other
people who travel to Milwaukee
to
see the Brewers and comment about the Secret Stadium Sauce. One person who
loved the sauce
was Bob Costas. Costas said in Curt Smith's book "Storied
Stadiums: Baseball's History Through
Its Ballparks" that he and his
partner Tony Kubek had to "...alternate play-by-play because one of us
would have a mouthful. This became semi-legendary, especially in Wisconsin, to where the
concessionaire at County Stadium
sent vats of bratwurst to my home in giant industrial size.
I'd get jars of the
secret sauce, but also letters from Cub fans who where insulted that
I didn't say Wrigley Field had better hot dogs."

RECIPE of delight:
The bottle of Secret Stadium Sauce offers the following directions:
Simmer 1 bottle of Secret Stadium Sauce and
1/2 cup of beer (optional) in a saucepan.
Grill sausages until golden brown
Dip sausages in simmering Secret Stadium Sauce (180 degrees)
Place sausages in fresh long rolls
Garnish with sauerkraut or onions before serving.
