René Daniels (1950-) is a prominent Dutch painter celebrated for his distinctive approach that intertwines visual art with literature and everyday life. His work often features elements of ambiguity, irony, and double meanings, drawing comparisons to artists like Marcel Duchamp and René Magritte. In 1987, at the age of 37, Daniels suffered a brain hemorrhage that significantly impacted his ability to create art. During his recovery, he ceased painting and his studio materials were preserved by the Van Abbemuseum. He resumed painting and drawing in 2006.
