This view was taken from the Maryland side of the Potomac River directly above the B & O Railroad Tunnel, overlooks the junction of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. Harper's Ferry is one of the most picturesque and historic places in the United States, was founded in 1763 on lands of Robert Harper who settled here in 1734. It is the lowest point in the state having an elevation of 272 feet above sea level.
