1/72 MV-22B Osprey `VMM-265 Dragons 2022`The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey (Osprey) a medium military convertiplane manufactured by Bell for the US Armed Forces.This aircraft is the result of the JVX (Joint Vertical-lift Experimental) program started in December 1. 981 999by then US Secretary of Defense Frank Carlucci. The contract was awarded jointly to Bell Helicopter Textron and Boeing Vertol. The need for an aircraft of such features was formulated by the US Navy and the US Army calling for the transportability of 24 equipped soldiers 370 km away.The first prototype of the V-22 Osprey aircraft was officially unveiled in Arlington Texas on May 23 1988. On December 1 1989 Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney decreed the suspension of the entire programme due to the considerable increase in production costs. The program was later reactivated and on 2 May 2008 the first combat mission to Iraq was held after a semester of operational employment predominantly in the transport role.
