Hornsby Rugby Club has a history dating back to at least 1906, with a formal club established in 1962. The club was initially part of the Sydney Rugby Union's Second Division, which later became the New South Wales Suburban Rugby Union (Subbies) competition. Hornsby has experienced both successes and periods of relegation in various divisions, including winning the 1st Division Club Championship in their first year in the Subbies competition.
